To be honest, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia's capital, is the most diverse city I have ever visited! I was truly impressed to see so many people from different religions, beliefs, and backgrounds living together so well and respectfully. It was very refreshing to see, and I think many countries and people around the world should learn from it! (Especially in France, no tea, no shade..)
An example of great cohabitation: in this city and sometimes on the same street, you can find buddhist temples like the Thean Hou - Hindu temples like the Sri Maha Mariamman - Taoïst temples like the Guandi Di - And of course amazing mosques like the Federal Territory! 1 hour's drive from the city, you will also find the beautiful pink Putrajaya Mosque. That's why I felt like I was visiting several countries at once. There are also areas run by communities, like Chinatown and Little India, where you can eat traditional dishes and buy clothes and souvenirs.
Life in Malaysia is also not expensive: you can eat well in a Shopping Mall for 7€, take a taxi and visit a museum for the same price, even sometimes for free! And most of the accommodations are very affordable with a great city view and a pool. I would recommend you to visit the Islamic Art museum, the KL Bird Park, the Central Market, and of course Batu Cave, the famous Hindu sanctuary, with its giant statue, colorful stairs, and monkeys! To finish do not forget to pass by the Petronas Twins towers, the symbol of the city :)
So, Kuala Lumpur is the perfect balance between tradition and modernity - Assitan <3
