 - MARTINIQUE ☆-

Hello, hellooo!!! It's time to share with you my trip to Martinique! I came to this beautiful island in October 2021 to see my friend and her family! I had already traveled to Guadeloupe in 2018, so I was very excited to visit another French Caribbean archipelago. First, I have to say one thing: I don't know why, but I felt really comfortable during this trip. As soon as I got off the plane, it was like I had been living there for a long time and was just coming home... I really loved the vibe of this island: the super green landscapes with lots of tropical trees, beautiful beaches, rivers, welcoming people, and the FRUIT. OMG!!! I drank so many delicious juices there: coconuts, cane, guavas, lychee, banana,.... I was just obsessed with those juices haha! Anyway, it was one of my best trips, and I would love to go back!

Thanks to my friend and her Mom I had the opportunity to visit many famous spots on the island <3

Here are some of my favorite places: Le Diamant the beautiful city where I stayed. Of course, don't forget to go to Fort-de-France, the capital and its famous local market! I also loved Coeur Bouliki which is a natural area with rivers where you can swim. If you are adventurous, you can also go hiking in its forest. You can visit The pottery village where you will find many handicraft works (I bought some beautiful postcards there haha). And if you are looking for some beaches: the well-known ones are mainly located in the south of the island: L'Anse Mitan, L'Anse à L'Âne, Le Diamant, Les Salines...

Regarding the food: you have to go to Snack Elizé and eat some burgers there! I also tried a famous mollusk in Martinique: the Lambi and it was delicious (with some rice and plantain bananas)! And before leaving the island, I went to a famous store called "Le Monde de Epices" to buy some spices :)

There are also many historical places to go as: the Memorial Cap 110 (in tribute to the last slave shipwreck from Africa in Martinique) and the Maison du Bagnard (an atypical house where an ex-convict called Médart Aribot lived).

...

During my stay, we also made an expedition to visit the Mangroves. Mangroves are intertropical floating forests. They are inhabited by many creatures: birds, water hens, fish, crabs and also many mosquitoes haha. Our guide was super nice! He also took us to two small uninhabited islands where we ate and drank local specialties and discovered some rare vegetation...

Last thing: I really challenged myself during this trip to Martinique. First of all, I drove our rental car several times, even though I hate driving (especially abroad). And, I also slid on the water in towed buoys!!!

I was super scared because I don't really swim well but luckily everything went fine lol.
